Seoul Train

Ok, not really a train. We planned to take the train to Seoul but ended up driving. After lots of math to see if it was ‘worth it’ I decided I didn’t care. Hauling the kids around trains and subways is fun once for the experience but I was SO happy to have our car to just drive home in while the kids slept. So nice.

I took a trillion pictures between my camera and my phone…so now the hard part is sorting through Flickr and getting them together in order.

The drive up didn’t seem long at all but it’s about the same as driving to Montgomery, AL. It goes by a lot faster when you’re not just driving through woods and tiny little towns the whole way.

I was pretty overwhelmed by how big the buildings were. I’ve obviously never lived in a big city

This place is insanely huge. This picture doesnt even do it justice. Over.whelmed.

Our first stop (Thanks to my friend Beth for telling me about it!) was the Samsung Children’s Museum. That place was fun! Both kids had a blast there. 3 stories of kid fun. And a billion field trip Korean kids. One group spoke crazy good English

The ball room reminded me of something at the science center in Bham.

A water room! Totally neat but it smelled like poop. Big time. Like when a kid poops in a swim diaper and you dont realize it until theyve been swimming for hours…yuck.

After the museum we crossed back over to the Lotte World/department store where we parked and hit up Toys R Us

Korean Zoobles 🙂 Pretty much the same but in a different box. Still completely strapped in with tiny clear rubber bands, Audrey!

Once the kids loaded up on goods we left to go find the COEX mall where the aquarium is that we didnt see last time we went up there

Thomas was pretty amazed at all the super fancy cars that are up there. He kept telling me how much each cost…usually close to what we got our house for…

But then all I could do was say “A REAL Ferrari!” just like Luigi from Cars.

Oh my gosh it’s after 5 and I need to start dinner. Didn’t realize I had 100 pictures to share. Oops.

And the big finale (Layla’s favorite)

I think she would have taken one home if she could have

Coming out of the aquarium you go through the gift shop (of course) and Thomas was in a crazy generous mood. Even after Toys R Us the kids still got to pick something from the gift shop. Layla got a penguin figure (duh) and Timmy got…a tiny tractor 😐 Oh well. Better than the $15 alligator puppet he was offered 😛

We walked back across the world COEX to get to the car and then had to find our way out of the huge buildings to get to the freeway. Theyre so big. Like you cant see the sky unless you look up big. Crazy. I kept saying over and over how big they were. Total tourist.

We had a great day! Totally long and everyone was DONE when we got home but it was a GOOD day.

  1. I love you. I can’t wait to live in a big city again. Don’t be overwhelmed when you come to visit. I like tall buildings.

  2. great pictures. I’m still totally in awe of it all. I realize now that I had NO CLUE what Korea was like before. Looks like you guys had a great day 🙂
