2nd Grade.

When the heck did that happen?

I have to admit Korea is slightly sucking the fun out of a lot of things. While it’s a great adventure and filled with new exciting things, some of the things I normally get excited about are kind of just…eh.

Like school. The first day of school is BIG. I love it. I love school supplies and shopping for a first day outfit and packing the perfect lunch.

This year, not so much. Our clothes options are extremely limited on post and off post can be pretty expensive or just different. No Target and Old Navy to stock up at! There is always online shopping but then you have to hope it fits and hope it gets here.

Like her new lunch box. We ordered one from Amazon which usually ships in about a week. This time we made it all the way until Saturday before school and still no lunch box. She ended up using her old one on the first day. I doubt she cared at all but it was a big First Day buzz kill for me. The new one came Monday afternoon. Just in time for Typhoon Bolaven to cause school to be canceled on Tuesday! Grrr

Any who, no new lunch box. No new outfit. But she’s in 2nd grade. SECOND. Good grief. Her teacher is brand new and so far (day 2) I think he’s pretty cool.

I walked her up to help her find her line. She was a little nervous about that.

Also, her backpack weighed about 50lbs and I felt bad so I carried it up…until we were about to round the corner for people to see us.She made me give it back.

Today she told me I could just pull up to the gate and let her out. She knew what to do. She’s also riding the bus home today for the first time this year. Lets hope she gets on the right one…
