Over Thinking Things

Right now I’m standing in my kitchen looking for a recent post worth sharing on a link up today. I’ve got nothing. I feel like I’ve been trying to make something of my blog and completely over thinking it all. I’ve struggled with ‘voice’ and knowing my audience. Suddenly I don’t know who I am writing (or at least trying to write) for. I blamed it on me not being a writer. I’ve searched the bajeejus out of Pinterest for anything related to making my blog something special. It seems like every article I find the blogger has started their blog with the intentions of being big or at least growing their blog. I started this blog 5 years ago originally because I just wanted to share pictures. I ended up posting a few recipes and randoms from our day to day life. It was easy and fun, like talking to a friend. That’s pretty much what it was though…just my friends and family keeping up with us. Now I feel the pressure of a larger audience and trying to connect with the masses. I’m going through the motions and it’s just not me.

I love the blogs I read and I love sharing my random day to day stuff. I’ve been so caught up on planning or scheduling and what I think people want to see that I haven’t actually done anything. I think it’s time that I get back to basics and blog for me again. I did sort of fall of the blogging wagon after having Timmy but it truly is what I WANT to do. I just need to stop thinking so much and start living. I read on one of the 500 “How to be a better blogger” articles I’ve read that if you can’t be a ‘lifestyle blogger’ if you don’t actually have a life to blog about aka stop worrying about blogging and go do stuff.

So that’s where I’m at. Time to post things I like but post them often. Seems easy enough right? First step: pick up my camera.

  1. Don’t worry too much about it! Just blog about what you want to blog about! Slowly my blog has grown, and I’m cool with it.

  2. I feel the pressure too! I’ve only been blogging for 1 month and it’s crazy what some of these people do. My goal is to just keep things simple and not too over the top. Cause that’s me and I don’t need to put anything more out there! You’ll do great hun, you’ve got it!

P.S. I nominated your blog for a liebster award! See more here: http://katelynnow.com/liebster-award/

  3. Very good!! Get back to what you like! I love everything you blog about, especially the family pictures and updates!! <3
