Return to Yeonginsan

Something very magical happened on Sunday. The whole family had a day off…TOGETHER. Usually (like, EVERY time) when Layla has a day off of school T is off playing Army. Saturdays are his golf days and Sundays are my derby days. Every now and then there comes a weekend when he golfs on a Sunday or I have a bout on a Saturday leaving us a whole DAY to do something together. As a faaaamily. Sweet, eh?

So, this past weekend I decided I wanted us all to go to Yeonginsan. I had gone to this mountain before with a local photog group. Of course when we went it was on a weekday in June…We drove up the mountain and parked in one of the parking lots up there where it was a short walk up hill to a large grassy field and onto more hiking trails. Seemed like good, easy, outdoor fun and since the weather has been amazing lately that’s exactly what we were looking for.

And then we got there. Parking up top was ‘full’ and we joined a million other people in the parking lot at the BOTTOM of the mountain. And instead of taking the straight up path we did the swerving road path. So much walking. No stroller. Timmy was a CHAMP. Kind of. He got carried a bit and whined a bit, more on the way down, but for the amount of uphill walking we did I was pretty proud of the boy! We were all thankful to reach the grass where we could sit down and have lunch.

Because it’s a small world we ended up running into a lady that works at our realtor office and she gave us some kimbap. So…full…but it was SO good.

It looks a little hazy but it was really an awesomely clear day. The view was perfect!

We had stopped at the PX before heading out to grab Subway for lunch. I ran in to the main store and found a frisbee to take. The kids were really good at throwing it! And sometimes catching 😉

And this boy just cracked me up.

I swore there was a pond on the other side of these tall plants. When we were done eating and playing we walked down to check it out. Then I remembered that by ‘pond’ I actually meant ‘mud hole’. Not too impressive and the tons of frogs that were there last June weren’t there now. Lame.

Had to get a picture of me and the boy in the same spot we got one last time. It’s my ‘then and now’ picture on Instagram today for the October photo challenge.

Hehe…One of these is not like the other.

The leaves are changing! I bet in a couple more weeks they will be awesome.

Lucky boy.

Look, it’s Charlotte! Timmy was very interested in the spiders on the way down. I just wanted pictures. With my zoom lens while standing far away.

Timmy walked a bit on the way down. Actually he ‘flew’ like an airplane crashing his hands into people passing us :/ Thankfully all the Koreans think he’s so cute which almost excuses the fact he’s a beast.

We made it back down (taking the straight down to the parking lot path) to the car at about 330. Perfect timing to get home, relax, make dinner and do the bedtime thing. I really love family days.
