• Not Bummer Summer 2015

School has been out for 2 weeks now! I figured it’s time to share our Not Bummer Summer 2015 list with y’all. Here it is! Short and sweet but enough big and little things to keep us busy this summer.

    Not Bummer Summer 2015

We’ve already been working hard on the list. Of course we’ve been swimming! And what pool day is complete without a watermelon?

And ‘Slush’ could be crossed off a few times now. Here is our latest ‘Slushy Selfie’. We love Sonic Happy Hour!

Yesterday we added bowling to our list of completed summer activities. I signed us up at www.kidsbowlfree.com which gives the kids coupons for 2 free games every day all summer (Just weekdays I think) and I paid the $20 to get myself the pass as well so we all get 2 games a day.

The kids beat me. It was my warm up game…

Golf is on the list. Layla has been doing the Spring golf clinic through the city but due to weather and a holiday the 8 week clinic has been stretched out a lot longer. Outside of that though, T has been taking both kids to the golf course to teach them as well. They LOVE it.

We still have quite a few things to cross off our list. Time to start planning! We are hoping for a zoo trip next week. And you know, Chill for froyo…I’m good with that any time. I really love our Not Bummer Summer lists. Not sure how long Layla will want to keep making them but at least I still have Timmy to be little for a bit longer.

  • Today.

The kids were supposed to go back to school. And Timmy did! But after 2 weeks off for Christmas, Layla decided to get sick the last couple of days. She has been having some crazy sinus/allergy stuff for a couple days but this morning, school morning, she woke up crying because her throat hurt and it wouldn’t go away with water and time like a normal sleep dry throat. Since we just did strep in October I wasn’t going to mess around. I called and only waited about 20 minutes on hold to get an appt today! Figured missing one more day to be sure was better than sending her for 1 day, have her get sent home, then have to miss another day or two mid week.

This was one of the crazy allergy days. She looked like someone punched her in the eyes.

So she stayed home. I left her in bed when I took Timmy to school at 8 and she slept there until I woke her up telling her I was going to go pick him up around 11:30. I think maybe her body was just trying to catch up on the sleep she missed out on by staying up late for the last 2 weeks. I’m sure the lack of sleep wasn’t helping her system at all.

I did get her an appt after lunch. She is strep free! But she did come home with a dr’s note for school, cough syrup, sudafed, and a numbing gargle to help the sore throat.  She’d been taking them all this afternoon and hopefully will wake up not feeling like death tomorrow.

While she was sleeping and Timmy was at school I didn’t get the chance to get the things done (like a Walmart run) that I planned to do once they were out of the house. We did end up going after the dr though since she was strep freeeee!

So after trying to clean up and ditch any house germs floating around I sat to work on blog stuff. My desk is such a hot mess.

(Big blog stuff coming eventually…whenever I get it all done 😉 So be ready for that.)

But look, at least I’m keeping semi-organized with my planner! Happy Birthday MOM! Miss you tons!

In other news…Revo had surgery today. He’s had a pretty big lump on his tail for a little bit now and it was time to have it removed. Poor Sadie was very sad without him today. She followed me everywhere.

The cat didn’t seem to care too much though.

Timmy napped for a few hours this afternoon as well. Looks like after 2 weeks off his day at school wore him out. He NEVER naps! Hopefully he’s not getting sick too.

And check it out. When we ran to Walmart for dog food I grabbed some canisters too! Finally.

I’ve been wanting to do something with THIS for a while. It makes me twitch. I think I still need a couple more but it’s better than it was.

Before dinner it was time to wake up the boy and head to Ozark to get Revo from the vet. He wasn’t too thrilled with getting up but was excited to get Revo back.

Poor guy. So pathetic. And my poor shins too.

It was fun watching him try to wrap his cone around his food stand though, haha

And his poor tail. At least he got to keep it! The original vet wasn’t too confident that would be possible but I’m glad it worked out. And he gets a pretty blue wrap for the next 24 hours.

So yeah, our first day back didn’t go quite as planned and turned into a pretty busy day. Lets hope tomorrow goes a little better for everyone! I’m completely ready to get back into a routine again!

  • Bike Riding

So, Layla got a new bike from Santa this Christmas! She had a bike before we went to Korea. We even took it with us but she never rode it there and rarely rode it while we were here before. It had training wheels and she was small…and thats where it ended. Fast forward….we get to the rental house here in AL and are walking down the road to get L from school every day. Timmy got a bike. A tiny little one with training wheels. Since we’ve been back in our house the roads are a little hillier and he hasn’t rode his since May-ish.

Where was I going with this? Im rambling. What I mean to say is…now both kids have bikes! Layla really wants to learn to ride a 2 wheel bike which is good because its too big for training wheels. She is so dead set on getting it and it’s exciting to watch her learn. Thankfully Thomas is a much better teacher than I am full of patience. I’m just here to take pictures.

Both kids rode all over the yard yesterday afternoon. It was a good time and I used my camera and not my phone. Workin on that New Year resolution…that I make every year, haha.

Setting her up and helping her balance as she takes off.

    And she’s off!

Once she was doing pretty good in the yard we decided to try out the flatter road near us. Something easier to pedal on.

It was a little scarier .

She did pretty good for a minute

    And then she didn’t.

Thankfully super dad was there and she didn’t fall. We decided to go back to the grass for a while.

And then Timmy decided he was big too.

Dude! He can ride a bike. Kind of…in a straight line. Down hill. But still! He’s my baby.

He got some help back up the hill

And then decided he wanted his training wheels back.

And then he was good just watching L

And the moon. Because why not.

So proud of both of those kids! They were back out today riding in the yard. Layla figured out how to get going and balanced on her own without anyone to steady her first. She’s really excited to get to where she can ride to school. Hopefully soon!

  • Christmas 2014

    The big Christmas post!

We are back in Alabama this year and it’s nice to catch up where we left off in 2011. After opening presents here we went and did our big Christmas breakfast with our stand in Alabama family. It’s good to be back with them when we cant be near our biological family on the west coast.

Anywho, surprisingly I was the first one up today. And thankfully I didn’t feel like I was dying. I’ve had the flu this last week and got better just in time for Christmas! Once T and I got up we woke up the kids and headed out for presents.

    Stockings first.

Then the kids gave each other a gift. Layla was so sweet. She knew Timmy only had a couple Pokemon cards while she had hundreds. She took out all the ones she didnt want/need and threw in some good ones too so she wasn’t just giving him all of her junk cards.

    Merry Christmas!
