Saying Goodbye To California

It has been a pretty busy couple of weeks for Layla and I. Today is our last full day in California so we decided we couldn’t leave without seeing the ocean. Like stand on the beach see it…even though I’m not sure I’ve even SEEN it at all since we’ve been here. Anyway, after missing an exit and trying to get the map on the iPhone to load I saw some beach to the left of us so we just got off. Thankfully we did because we got to drive through Solana Beach, Ca which has a hint of Hawaii North Shore to it. *Sigh*

This is what we saw first

When we first got there Layla was sooooo happy and just stood there staring.

Layla was entertained by the bird doing “wii fit”
"he's doing wii fit!"

I liked the shapes in the sand

And even though we didn’t go far out swimming, we did touch ocean. And it was cold.
OCEAN :)

And the sand turned my feet black. Not Layla’s though…she didn’t mind the cold water.
CA vs HI

She was absolutely LOVING the beach and was very sad that we didn’t have our beach toys with us. Sorry L. The seaweed did creep her out a bit though. Hawaii beaches are a taaaad bit cleaner…and less smelly.

But the beach is a beach and there were surfers.

on the way out instead of back tracking to the freeway we took the 101 for a bit.

And of course I couldn’t help singing…

“Drivin down the 101, California here we cooooooome”
Driving down the 101....

I’m thinking we need to drive to the beach when we get home…and its not freezing.

  1. OH.MY.GOSH how pretty, although after HI no beach compares 😉

DONT fool yourself by going to the ‘gulf’ near you all …. its FAR from a ‘BEACH’ 😉

    LOL

  2. A bird and Wii fit….what luck! Glad you had fun at the beach but we can’t wait for you guys to get home.

  3. I’d love to see some beach here with you guys! We were about 25 minutes from where we lived in Florida and I miss it…something about the view of the horizon that seems so peaceful!

  4. It’s a deal. We can trade states :-P. I want bird pictures instead of the rat birds we have ( Seagulls)
