Ok. I suck. Big time. If it’s not one thing it’s another…first it was just laziness. Now, as much as I HATE to admit it publicly, I am addicted to the stupid Twilight books. I swore I would never read the dumb things. And then the movie came out. Thomas was at school and I was bored so why not rent it? Lets see what all the hype is about. Of course if yall didn’t know its a 4 book series so naturally I was sucked in just like with the Lord of the Rings movies. They leave you hanging at the end wanting more. So I borrowed book 2. Then 3 and 4. I pretty much have don’t nothing productive for about 2 weeks now.
So…to catch up…a long long time ago (3 weeks maybe??) we drove to Montgomery to check out the zoo. It rained a lot on us. The zoo there is pretty small but I liked it. Right in the middle is a big pavilion/cafe and all around it you can see the animals. I loved that! We also did the 10 minute train ride that is $2 a ticket. It was a fun little tour around the zoo but would have been better without wet seats.
On the website we also read that they have a “Natural History Museum”. I was SOOOO excited. I haven’t been to one of those since we lived in Albuquerque. We left there when I was 9. NOT quite what I was expecting but still pretty fun to do. AND indoors and dry! It is mainly a lot of stuffed deers, bears, and other animals. I did not realize how BIG a moose is.
This turkey was Mexican. Doesn’t it look Mexican? I loved the colors.
They had lots and lots of different frogs too. NOT stuffed…
At the zoo all of the animals were out. That was a nice change. They’re always hiding in Tucson. Or just sleeping.
I don’t think I got a cheetah picture but there were like 4 and at least 2 were pacing in circles around they’re area. It was neat ๐
And who doesn’t love the elephants?
or this picture? There’s a little cubby/room thing to watch the elephants from and it smelled BAD in there. BUT it was worth it ๐
Now on to another weekend. We packed up Rik and headed down to Panama City to hang out with the neighbors at their beach house. We ran to Target while we were there and holy wow I was impressed. But then I’m pretty easily amused. It looked just like Dothan’s but…clean. And VERY organized? Like it was JUST opened and everything was JUST put out before anyone could touch it. I also had my first Publix experience. That was also very exciting for me ๐
Of course since I suck I didn’t even pull my camera out (loser) until Thomas took Layla and I down to the beach for a bit. Oohhh the beach. How I’ve missed it. Yesterday even Layla told me she wanted to go back to Hawaii where all the beautiful beaches are that we can eat at and she can swim. And THEN go somewhere with snow. I liked her first idea better ๐
The sand was kind of Bellows-ish for those who know what I’m talking about. And the water was WARM. SO nice.
And Layla wore her 3T suit that she has had for 2 years. I swear she’s growing…maybe her arms and legs are just getting longer. Everything else isn’t moving.
Something you don’t see at Hawaii beaches. Lots of them. Fighting over crabs and someone’s KFC bones.
Layla was so over the moon excited to be there playing in the water and the sand.
And we didn’t feel bad stealing their shells. Always a tiny bit scurred of the Hawaii “curse” if you take things from their beaches. Not so much in Florida.
And that’s all. Now I’m moving on to our friend Alek’s 2nd bday party pics as well as his daddy’s homecoming.
I got sucked into Twilight too! haha
Love Laylas bathing suit, super cute!
Check out The panama City zoo. Its tiny but i liked it alot. Its been 9 yrs…so hopefully its still there!
The zoo looks cool. I'll have to plan a trip with the kiddos!
YEAH for Publix…how I miss my Publix that was two minutes from my house in Florida…sigh.
Oh my…I got hooked on Twilight, too. I read the books first then saw the movie. Something about it is just so addicting ๐ I still haven't tried Publix, but I totally adore my Super Target. It is soo neat and clean…always perfect.
