Scenes From Summer

That title sounds pretty familiar. Maybe someone else used it on another blog. Either way it was in my head and now it’s my title.

I’m a little mood swingy with my love for Alabama. When we moved here I loved it. Fall came and it was great seeing leaves change for once. Winter came and I couldn’t get out of here fast enough. I don’t like cold. I was counting down the days in my head until we could move somewhere else. Spring came and I noticed myself not hating it here so much…then summer again. I love summer. That’s what I get from growing up in Tucson maybe. Give me the baking heat and a swimming pool over cold any day!

I woke up in a good mood for some reason this morning. Good enough that I even frothed some milk to put on my coffee to make it fancy.

My morning was pretty normal. Drop Layla off at summer school, come home, try to shred while praying the boy stays asleep or at least awake and happy enough for me to get through the 25 minutes, play with and feed boy and the dogs, then pray he falls asleep or at least stays awake and happy long enough for me to shower before picking Layla up from school.

After lunch Layla and I had a date to make the chocolate chip cookies that we never got around to last night.

Layla approved.

After testing the cookies and I got Timmy to sleep again Layla asked if we could play outside. She said I could stay on the porch. She started in her Jeep while I shop vacc’d the spiders and dog hair out from under all of the furniture. She got over that fast and moved on to the slip n slide.

After setting it up for her it was my time to sit back in my rocker and drink my crystal light iced tea with lemon. Mmmm

I also watered the porch plants.

Layla came in to fill her squirt guns and check on the grow in water gator that she picked up yesterday at Foodworld.

While out front I noticed some blueberries were ready! We ate our first 4 blueberries right off of the bush and they were good. I also dug up the little potatoes that we planted.

Then Tub woke up and came out to sit on the porch with me while Layla slipped and slid.

Great…there goes any chance of taking pictures of anything else.

His baby book MAY be empty and I MIGHT have 13 pictures of Layla hanging on our living room walls and none of him…but at least I’m taking pictures of him!

LOTS of pictures.

Mmm 90ish on the shaded/fanned porch.

Now TF was getting fussy and I was starting to be less excited about the baking heat. I was very thankful for that 40% chance of rain that brought in just enough clouds for L to want to ditch the water fun and come inside. I also lured her in with some high fructose corn syrup Jello.

Another good day for us over here! Now the kidlets are all tucked in and sleeping. Tomorrow Timmy has his 4 month well baby appt and shots. They wouldn’t let me switch to an off post Dr but I did get to ditch the nurse practitioner he was seeing and have him start seeing the pediatrician that Layla sees. We’ll see how I like her with baby stuff.

Here’s the noodle neck (another name from Kassie who is the one that originally dubbed him Timmy Fred) with his lack of muscles in the bumbo seat.

  1. Those are some good pics! Looks like you all had a good day! Wish I was there to share it with you!

  2. I grew up in Arizona too(Scottsdale)..I so appreciate the seasons now! Thanks so much for your last post on how to take good photos…I think I'm realizing we need to invest in a better camera so all your photo setting instructions make sense:)
