They’re Who I Am

There has to be some rule saying that if one day can be SO perfect the next has to be SO not. Something is up with Timmy. Teething is my guess but he’s not snotty and hacky and not breathing like with the past 5. But ohmygod he wont leave me alone. Chasing me through the house screaming “mamamamamamamama” and crying and melting into the ground when I don’t pick him up. I think Layla told him the best ways to throw a fit and make me want to rip my hair out. He did take 2 GOOD naps today which is pretty much what saved my sanity and let me get some homework/housework done.

Anyway, I didn’t come here to rant about having an ‘off’ mom day…it actually turned around and by dinner (which we ate at 4:30 because T works nights and then daylight savings made me think it was a LOT later than it really was. Oops) everything was ok-ish again. The boy ended up ejecting his dinner all down the front of him which seemed like a bit of a waste of an outfit because he didn’t get dressed for the day until 230 when I had to get Layla from school. So…bath time and jammies at 5pm.

After that something clicked and even though he was still whiny it was ok. Layla finished her latest Junie B, First Grader book for school while I sprawled out on the living room floor letting Timmy climb all over me trying to get my phone/glasses/lip ring/eyeballs. Finally we ended the night in our happy place. Layla’s room. We read books and Timmy gnawed on baby doll stroller wheels and pool diving sticks. He loves it in there.

I swear I had a point to this post with some pictures to go with it. Let me try to get back on track.

Layla. She’s amazing. She reads at a 2nd grade level. She loves to read. Seriously, what kid argues with you about going to sleep because they want to stay up and read just a little…bit…longer? Weirdo. I’m hella proud though.

She was up until almost 10 last night because she couldn’t put down The Mouse and the Motorcycle.

She is also a pretty awesome big sister when she isn’t totally being jealous or deciding she HAS to tell me something or make me look at something at the exact moment that Timmy is screaming his brains out and melting into the floor about to vomit and kicking and rolling while I’m trying to change his diaper.

She does like to make him happy and knows she’s the only one that can ALWAYS make him happy.

Ignore the dryer sheet on the floor. At least I’m washing clothes.

And ignore the diaper clad baby that I didn’t feel like wrestling into pjs right away.

He loves her boots.

And him. I don’t even know what to say about him. He’s the most stressful part of my day and yet can turn it all around with that face. He is 1000% more trouble than Layla.

Tomorrow is Preemie Awareness Day. Still no idea what I’m going to write about. It’s also a very Layla filled day. I get to go hang out in her classroom and then have lunch with her before hitting up the book fair. All of that Timmy Free because I have an awesome husband that is keeping him so *I* can be the one to be at the school with Layla. I’m really excited. We don’t get enough time together without the boy. It’s going to be fun even if I get school food for lunch 🙂

  1. Love the dryer sheet on the floor remark. Yes! At least you are doing laundry. Mine is piled up in my room just waiting for a good fairy to come through and rescue me!
