It does NOT feel like Christmas Eve. At. All.
‘Firstable’ it was like 75* a couple days ago. I’m not ok with weather like that unless I’m in Hawaii at the beach for Christmas.
Instead of thinking of it as Christmas Eve and tomorrow as Christmas all I can think is “2 days until the movers come.” And I’m not ready. I know I’ll wish I had something I didn’t bring once I get there.
This move has my brain fried. Usually I am way more Christmasy. I didn’t even do my 12 days of Christmas pictures like I have done the past couple of years. I thought about it but it just didn’t happen.
So I took a picture to show our new stockings and to show that we actually did put something up to decorate since I’m not showing it all off this year.
Also, at 9:30 this morning I decided I needed to make cookies. 32 Chocolate peanut butter no bake cookies. I remember my mom making them at my grandma’s house one summer. She had them sitting in the oven and I went to the kitchen to try to sneak one out but the oven door was soooo squeaky. Not sure if they heard me or even cared but they were SO good.
Now I have plates and pans full of no bakes that wont set up. The did get a bit hard but I don’t think I could have them touch in a tub or something without them turning into one big gooey mess. Oh well.
On with the tour of Christmasy things. The prezzies. Christmas with the boy is a bit different this year. They are staying up high because I don’t trust him around anything he can bust into.
Also Layla made sure to point out that there aren’t as many as last year. Looks like trying to make last Christmas with Thomas/Timmy’s first Christmas big right before the Christmas of nothing big unless you don’t want to see it for 2 months starting 2 days after you have it wasn’t the best plan. Oh well again.
I’ve heard people do 4 presents…something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read. I like that idea. Layla would die I’m sure. Greedy lil booger. It would make shopping for their birthday a month later a little easier. We’ll see.
As if our tree wasn’t top heavy to start with this year Layla took EVERY ornament and rehung it out of Timmy’s reach. The bottom is super naked.
She can’t just be normal…
Buddy and Rik. They go everywhere with her. She really wants her elf to ‘retire’ and stay with her but I don’t know how much more of it I can take. I hope she doesn’t expect him to still hide and do things during the night once he retires…
I bought a tube of gingerbread dough a while ago…and I just couldn’t bring myself to actually make them. The flour and cutting and baking and decorating was just too much when usually one kid is melting down while the other is happy. I’m all bah humbug this year!
Today we had to make them. For Santa.
So we did them during Timmy’s nap
And I actually had fun.
He can be in on the memories next year
And of course…it was bound to happen. Dog hair baked into the cookie.
And here’s a little slice of ‘keepin it real’ vs perfect mom blogger….
I fed it to Timmy.
I’m sure he’s had worse.
He didn’t seem to mind. He came right back and snatched another one and then hid inside the easel to eat it.
All while Layla played Deck the Halls on the piano still in her pjs which are half unbuttoned.
It’s 4:40.
We need to decorate the pile of cookies now and figure out something for dinner.
Then bath, books, and bed! One more day down.
Merry Christmas Eve 🙂
I love it Megan!!! Especially the cookie part…I started laughing til the point I was crying…hahahaha. I hate that you’re leaving, BUT I truly understand why. Too bad I cannot take the boys and head over there with you. PLEASE keep in touch…I hope we can get together before you leave!
