Last week we finished up Stage 6 of the New Rules of Lifting for Women. This is the furthest into the program I’ve been. Yay!
One more stage to go. Stage 7 and we’re done! Very excited to finally finish this up. We are going into month 6! Stage 6 was pretty fun. They were both short days and it was all about slow movements. I liked it a lot. Stage 7 has a lot going on so hopefully I can see some changes from it. I have to be honest…while I’m definitely stronger I don’t see much difference in my physical appearance which is kind of a bummer even though I knoooow this program is more about gaining strength than looking pretty. Which is good…but still! I’m doing the workouts and not eating horribly and nothing changes. If anything I’m just getting bigger 😐 I guess I could use some cardio in my life…ugh. Skating a couple days a week probably doesn’t cut it, huh. Also, I still can’t do push ups. Not that I was amazing before surgery but now I can maybe knock out 4 if I try really hard. Boo!
These pull downs were my fave. Pull it down then slowly let it back up. Fun stuff.
Anywho, I’m excited to say I’ve finally finishing this program. As much as I like it I am excited to move onto something new. The book is mainly a lot of the same exercises rotated in different ways…So I moved on to the next book. ABS! It’s all about core strength. Can’t wait to start reading it.
Between stages 6 and 7 we have taken the week off to just do cardio. 10 minutes on each machine for an hour (rowing machines are the devil by the way. omg.)
So my plan for stage 7…follow the workouts and push myself on lifting as heavy as I can. Get in more cardio even if it means going back to the gym after my buddies go home to use up the full time Timmy is at school. As far as nutrition goes I am eating as clean as I can and still feel ‘normal’. I’m not crazy meal prepping eating chicken, brown rice, and veggies for every meal all week (is that what I need to do??) but what I do eat isn’t bad. I rarely eat fast food, I don’t get coffee out all the time, I don’t drink sodas and avoid sugar mostly (dang Halloween candy!) Also, I’m trying to get back into tracking it all too which helps stay accountable and focus on getting enough protein in.
Well, there you have it. Almost done with the New Rules of Lifting. I’ll try to check back in once it’s all over with some final ‘results’ which may not be so fantastic, ha! But we’ll see how it goes 🙂
I think you look great!! I can see a difference! Prolly cause I don’t see you that often! You’re looking fit!! 🙂
You look awesome! I did the first part of this book before we had to move, and loved it. I really need to just buy the book so I have the workouts easily available, and get back to it once we hit Korea.
