Monsoon season is finally showing up…
and let me just say that if it can stay dark and rainy and make Timmy sleep in until 7am then we will get along just fine!
But anywho, after a week of not really doing much because of a sick boy I was determined to get out and go to our summer reading library day.
Layla thought we’d skip it since it was raining.
I laughed at her.
Mommy needs some adult conversation even if it’s just 5 minutes before I’m chasing Timmy through the building.
While we were getting ready I put on my rain boots, dug out Timmy’s rain boots, and then realized Layla didn’t have any. She seemed pretty sad about it and said “I’ll just wear flip flops… π π :(“
So we left early and ran to the PX and got the girl some boots! And some paper and markers for a later project. And one of those thin rain jackets that folds into a tiny pouch for Timmy because it was 75% off and I got it for $1. Anyway…Library time. Layla and I rocking boots. Timmy in his back up crocs because Im a genius and knew that shoving the boots on him would be pretty much equal to chopping his feet off.
I totally meant to take pictures of story time/craft time at the library but I just didn’t. Timmy was even happy (mostly) sitting in a chair at the table with me looking at books. I just suck. Oh well.
Layla wanted to jump in puddles SO. BAD. in her new boots. The thunder had stopped so when we got home I let her go for it.
Guess who suddenly was all about getting his boots on to join her?? π
Fun stuff…until it started raining harder and I realized I was up under the little covered area by our door so my camera would stay dry while my kids were out getting soaked in the parking lot with crazy Korean drivers.
So I made them come in. That’s when we saw this guy π I love rain that brings out the little green frogs!
Inside:
Hot chocolate (L’s anyway, I had iced coffee and Timmy had chocolate milk)
Books
Books and hot chocolate
Wet butts from sitting to put boots on
And our ‘project’ – We’re kind of on a Judy Moody kick. Layla has the first book (and the rest of the set on the way) and we watched the movie Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. We made our own Not Bummer Summer list. She will earn ‘thrill points’ for each one she does.
Eesh, I don’t write very straight…
Im totally in love with Judy Moody. She’s 3,000 times better than Junie B Jones ever hoped to be. She talks cool…not dumb like Junie B. And she’s funky. I like funky. My next goal is to make Layla a shirt that says I Ate A Shark. It was fun watching the movie with her and Β to see her get excited at all the parts she remembered from the book (like the shark shirt).
So all this fun stuff brought us right up to nap time. And then our day was pretty dull. After the boy woke up there was lots of whining and kids fighting. Finally they started playing together for about 5 minutes.
Today is Saturday. We’ll see if it’s a fun take on the world day or a sit in the house and pretend to clean and be productive day.
I love the pictures of them in the puddles!!! It is so much fun to play in the rain and puddles!!
I enjoy reading about your day. π
I need to get rain boots. Not that it rains a lot in AL but I’ve always wanted a pair. Hope you’re doing well!
