Yesterday was the strawberry patch field trip for L’s school. Melissa and I must have missed the ‘buy and wear the blue school shirt’ memo. That’s ok. It wouldn’t have matched Layla’s strawberry skirt anyway 😉
So we met up at school and headed down to Country Best Farm. Remember them? I took a picture of they’re building a while back. When we get there the owner was telling us about the history and her kids and all about what they grow
Miss Hannah told all the kids to ‘catch a bubble’ which made them all do this and stay quiet.
After all the talking and welcoming they passed out the buckets
And led us out to the strawberries
Layla was super excited and dove right in there looking for the big red ones 🙂
Yummo! But they’re not cold like the ones we have at home…
Here comes EG to show off how many she has! I think she ate a few, too 😉
Once she passes Layla finds a super funny shaped one that she has to show EG
After we were done picking we went inside the main building to pay for them.
There was the room with the register and another full of more things to buy
They had a table with fresh veggies
And buckets of already picked strawberries
And pecan pies! I didn’t get any pictures of them though. Too busy drooling over them instead.
All of the kids got to choose between chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and peach home made ice cream. Layla got chocolate.
Elizabeth was grumpy that it was too frozen to get her spoon into.
Then the boys came to join the girls. They’re twins. Layla likes the one with the brown hair and says she wants to marry him.
Check out those knees. It hurts me to think about sitting that way.
And of course my little monster. If Elizabeth is having a hard time with something L comes along to rub it in. ‘Look mommy, I can scoop a bite’ Shes a turd. And I take pictures of it.
And that’s it. It was a really fun time and SO close to home.
how FUN !!!! we are DEF going back to, they were DELISH & CHEAP !!!
if you ONLY wash what you plan on eating THAT day they last longer 😉
and that ice cream looks YUMMMM
Mmmmm…strawberries! That looks like so much fun. Cody just told me he liked the new Layla strawberry pictures 🙂
Love that you dressed Layla in a red top and strawberry skirt! Awesome pictures, and makes me really miss the south…and sweet tea (that didn’t come from Dixie Grill in Aiea)!
How fun!
