After a few days of Layla being a giant turd I realized that it started when T went to school.
We talked about how it is ok to miss him and he wont be gone long at all. She is marking her X’s every night now to countdown to his return and yesterday was a MUCH better day! She also tells me now that she misses his a lot more often and I am able to talk to her about it and it puts her in a better mood.
Yesterday after school we ran to the store for a couple of things and Layla saw a $4 Frosty DVD so I let her toss it in the cart. We watched that and Free Willy while curled up on the couch all day. We also spent time outside playing “soccer” with her halfway deflated Dora ball.
She ate every bit of her dinner and was happy to get some candy after. It was just the best day. Hopefully this new attitude sticks!
