One Year + Fundraising Time!

After I waited for today Thomas reminded me that I’m a day off and YESTERDAY was actually the 1 year anniversary.

So…One year ago from YESTERDAY I my water broke at 30 weeks. Or maybe it was even the night before but yesterday was a year since I moved into UAB for what would be close to the next 2 months.

I can’t believe how much has happened in the last year. How scary and sad the year started out and how amazing things are now, a full year later. I am very thankful to every doctor and especially every single nurse that helped me keep my boy in for those extra 4 weeks. As much as I whined about being sent 3 hours from my home, family, and friends there is no where else I would have wanted to be taken now.

They pretty much rock.

NOW, since it has been a year since I became one of the 15-ish% of women in Alabama who had a baby too early (giving the state an F by the March of Dimes) I wanted to really kick off my March for Babies fundraising today.

I set a small goal of $200. If every one of my followers donated $2…*JUST* $2…I would pass that goal.

I have 105 days to raise my money before the March for Babies walk.

Today I’m just going to beg y’all for your money! Help the March of Dimes with their research in finding out why moms like me for unknown reasons have their babies early. Help them bring support to families like ours and our friends who spent SO many hours at the hospital waiting to see when our babies would be able to come home. The MOD had lunches and activities for the parents. A time to get together and talk to other parents or listen to speakers talk about different subjects.

I have done a March for Babies walk before while living in Hawaii but now it means so much more. I’m walking for MY baby and all of the babies that I got to know during my time in Birmingham. And for the preemie babies and their moms that I have come to know through Babycenter.com, Facebook, and blogs.

Starting next week I *plan* (you know how well I stick to those…) to post another tutorial on Tuesday. Or a non-tutorial. I want to find fun projects to do during the week and then post my experience with it and the link to the original instructions like I did with the crayon roll. THEN…whatever I make I will GIVE AWAY the following Monday. March for Babies Monday! To enter either donate $1 to the fund or post about the give away on your blog/facebook/twitter (or all 3).
