(non)Tutorial Tuesday + Giveaway #2!

Sorry I’m posting this so late. Between a clingy boy, waiting for the girl to get home from school so I could get pictures, and then a girl scout meet/dinner/bedtime/screamy gaggy boy…I am just now getting to this!

This week I thought I would post the tutorial I used to make a pair of DIY baby leg warmers. I’ve always loved the BabyLegs ones but am SO cheap. I grabbed a couple pairs of socks from Target to make both kids a pair. I used the tutorial at Everything Your Mama Made HERE

It was super easy to follow but I still managed to mess TF’s up on one side! I didn’t make that mistake twice. Got a little TOO confident with how easy it was and stopped paying attention. Anyway…I made his a looong time ago. And I never made L’s. So here hers are in my version of the tutorial.

Start with some knee socks and some scissors

Step 1

Next cut off the toe and heal pieces. They’re trash!

Step 2

Now take the foot part of the sock (now the smaller of the tubes) and fold it inside of itself? Is that what I’m trying to say? My edges were all rolled up and I ended up having to press them first so I didn’t go crazy trying to sew it.

Step 3

Here stick the cut side of the long piece inside of the newly folded in shorter piece with the cut edged touching. Make sense? If not check out the original tutorial. It worked for me!

Step 4

NOW…just sew around the pinned edge. What I did NOT read the first time I did this was to either use a long stitch or a closer zigzag. It gives it stretch. TF’s aren’t too stretchy on the sewn part but I just put that side around his ankles and it works.

Step 4

So there you have it. That’s how you make your own BabyLegs style leg warmers for the price of a pair of knee socks (I think I paid $2 at Target)

Here is TF showing his off this morning before he puked on them 😐

In Action

Can you see the ankle part I messed up on? oops.

Not tired and not mid blink. This is the “Ugh mom why are you making me sit here” face.

Bored

I LOVE these. And they look super cute with a cloth diaper 😉 Too bad I’m lazy and rarely use them.

Happy

They’re great on big kids too! Layla will be 6 soon and loves hers. First she had them pulled up to her hips like Timmy’s lol I made her scrunch them 😛

Giveaway Time! For my 2nd March for Babies crafty giveaway I have THREE pairs of these leg warmers!

Giveaway #2!

Great for a boy or girl. (I also use Timmy’s under his pants on really cold days. Keeps him warm and easier to change diapers than if he was in 2 pairs of pants.)

Giveaway #2!

Same rules as last week. To enter you have a few options…each one requires a separate comment HERE telling me that you have done it.

#1 – Donate $1 to the March for Babies fund on the side of the page. We’re at $70! SO close to half way.

#2 – Share this blog on Facebook…then comment back here to tell me you did!

#3 – Tweet it! Then come back again and comment telling me you did 🙂

And because I love bonus entries you can go for one more chance to get these legwarmers and ‘Like’ Everything Your Mamma Made & More on Facebook

THEN come back here commenting to tell me you did 🙂

Easy peasy.

And I love these stinkin leg warmers. And so do my kids. Even though Timmy really has no say…so I’ll say it for him. They’re fun!
