Since today is Fathers Day I figured Id give a little shout out to a few of my favorite Dads out there. Lets start with my broha, Paul. Lets all face it…we didn’t think it would ever happen. And then out of no where, in his early 30s, he meets an awesome chick, they get married, and then by October 2007 he was a proud papa. And Prince Eric is sooooo stinking cute. I want to squish him. Anyway, I’m proud of you Turbo and its so fun to watch you be a new dad. Just give it a year though…you wont be near as cautious of things. And remember…if you don’t see blood they’re good to go. Just listen to mom though if she says he has an ear infection…although I’m sure you will take him to the Dr as soon as he looks like he might be thinking about the idea of possibly getting sick…as much as it is hard to listen to mom sometimes she has a crazy 6Th sense about ear infections and I always get the “I told you so”.
Next, I need to say a big fat THANK YOU to a really important dad, Thomas. Without him there would be no Layla and without Layla what the heck would I do all day? I sure doubt Id be the camera nut I am without such a cute model to practice on 🙂 I just wish I could say she gets her looks from her Mom. So thank you, Thomo, for Layla and for being such a fun dad. She is just crazy about you even though it seems like all you do it throw pretend bugs at her or tell her you’re going to put her in the fan. She still eats up ALL the attention you give her. I know you have missed out on a lot of things in her life but the time you do spend with her is priceless. I wouldn’t trade watching you two together for anything…not even a D3. I love you tons and cant wait to see how you treat the first boy Layla brings home. Thankfully there are no guns for you to just “happen to be cleaning when he comes to pick her up”.
Last but certainly not least, my daddy. And I don’t care how old I get he’s always going to be my daddy. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. He is for sure one of the most understanding, patient people I know. I hope those qualities start rubbing off on me. Maybe that comes with old age 🙂 Anyway, now that Layla is getting older it reminds me of being little and the fun things I would do with my dad and the things I’m starting to do with Layla. One thing I have adopted is the “Take a sip so it doesn’t spill” trick. Layla doesn’t have to know I’m just thirsty. Also, put your fingers in your ears when I close the door. Its the little things that stick with you. I remember walking to waffle house with my dad and seeing blimps and riding elevators in the office buildings at night. I remember having free reign to make my “special sauces” that my parents would then cook with that night. I could go on for days remembering the many many many fun things we’ve done together. Thank you for being so calm and letting me do pretty much anything I wanted (as long as its not harmful or permanent (= ) Thank you for raising me right and making me the person I am today. Thank you for teaching me so many things and still being there now for me to call when I don’t know how long to boil an egg and for being there to Google different reasons that my hand feels like it is on fire when I’m sure the reason is that I’m dying. I hope that I can raise Layla even half as well as you and mom raised us kids. You’re the best and I love you and miss you so much.
Happy Fathers Day 🙂
Ahh i enjoyed reading that it was really sweet! I’m sure your family appreciates it!
Thank you, Babo…Y’all made bein’ a dad the easiest, most fun thing I’ve ever done. I love you sooo much!
What a sweet tribute!
Don’t mind me if I totally steal your idea and make my own very similar entry LOL *runs and hides*
