This week Layla’s school had a field trip to the pumpkin patch at Aplin Farms. We went last year and had a lot of fun so I was excited for us to go back again. Thankfully Thomo had the afternoon shift so he was able to head out with us. We took our own cars out there so while we were waiting for the bus and the rest of the kids/parents we took a little stroll around the front of the place. They have a LOT of pumpkins for sale up front as well as other random fresh veggies.
We ended up walking away with bag of eggplant and another with jalapenos. They’re sooo much better than store bought peppers.
“Layla watch out! It’s going to bit you!” “I think it’s just a hay spider…with pipe legs.” She’s no fun anymore.
Finally the other kids show up and we break into groups
We were part of the first group to go on the wagon ride out to pick pumpkins thank goodness. It was a longer ride than last year and we passed by some little ponds. Layla said she didn’t want to swim even though Thomas was trying to talk her into it. She said she didn’t have a swimsuit.
Finally there! Before getting on the trailor we upgraded from sweater to coat. It was pretty chilly there for a bit. She was off to chase her friends and find the best pumpkin ever.
These two were together most of the time. Layla was trying to show her a pumpkin that was burried. She ended up digging it out for Layla.
And there it is. The best pumpkin ever.
Until she decided she needed a bigger one.
Just like a boy. Trying to show all the girls how strong he is.
“I got a pumpkin that was THIS BIG”
This is when you know your baby is growing up. She hesitates and decides she is going to look with her friends and not her dad. 4 going on 16.
After we labeled the pumpkins and put them in the trailors we were off to the sunflowers. I must say they weren’t as pretty and fresh as I remembered them from last year.
Layla still found herself a keeper
And then it was time to hop back on our trailors and head back to the next activity
When we got back and put all of our stuff in the car it was time to meet up at the demonstration barn. Here the kids learned about the chickens they had there and then got to dig through hay to find fake eggs.
After the chickens and the eggs they headed over a bit to pick “apples” off of an “apple tree” and put them in a basket.
And from there they went across the barn to milk a plywood cow
Once we were done at the demonstration barn we made a mad dash to the animals. I love the animals.
Oh I LOVED the little duckies! They reminded me of my chick…I mean roosters when they were babies.
Layla was kind of over the bunny when she realized she couldn’t feed them.
Same with the pigs when she read the “Dont touch, we bite” sign on their pen.
Layla kept laugh/yelling “Cut that out!” when it would lick her hand
And then she had to feed the donkeys.
And love them a bit more before she would be ok leaving.
Time to wash hands so she could get a snack
She was showing off her skills at getting all the creme off of the inside of her cookie with one scrape of her teeth. I think this though is when she was telling them some very important information…
“You guys! I NEED to tell you something! I had a yoyo and then my mom threw it away!”
Thanks Layla for making me the bad guy. I like how she failed to tell them that half of it broke off which made the string come off. She told another friend on the wagon ride “I can see better than my mom. She needs glasses. SEEING glasses!”
Psh.
The end. Then we went to lunch with T before he headed to work and we headed to…Walmart.
OMG I LOVE YOUR WORDING!!!! The yo yo is so funny, I am still laughing. And the Glasses. lmao Kids are so darn funny. You had some great pictures.
Love Aplin farm! Thank you for all of the pictures. You do it much better justice than I would be able to! I just showed these to my parents so they could see and they loved your pics!
Looks like tons of fun!
