I haven’t updated this blog yet and I spose I should. On Wednesday I drove out to Dothan for a Dr appt. Everything was perfect and I was out of there within minutes of the Dr seeing me. Well that night my water broke. Sorta. I wasn’t totally sure so I let it go until the morning and sure enough it was like a flash back of Layla. We dumped Layla at Melissa’s house and headed off to Dothan. I knew 30 weeks was TOO early for this to happen and figured they would keep me for a while. Since Dothan is only 45 minutes away I didn’t pack TOO much thinking Thomas could always bring me stuff when I needed it. Well after we get there and decide it is in fact my water that broke they drop the bomb on us that they don’t do babies this young and the next thing I know I am in the back of an ambulance headed to Birmingham where I get to live for the next 4 or so weeks.
We spent our first night in Labor and Delivery where they had me hooked up to an IV with antibiotics, magnesium sulfate, and finally a little Demerol to help stop the “contractions” I was having. That was NO fun.
I only got a couple shots from that first room. After I got the all clear and knew I wasn’t having the kid right then we sat and waited for a room in the antipartum hall to open up.
And Thomo’s double wide pull out chair.
Finally a room opened up for us. It’s about half the size as the L&D room but the bed is a bit more comfy. Mine anyway 😉
T’s chair…not so much.
I did sit in it for a few minutes today and it’s not too much. I’m sure the fold out sleep on version isn’t as nice though 😛
Today I got to get out for a bit. Thomas took me on a wheelchair tour of the hospital and we found the Starbucks. I’m going to miss having him here to push me there 😛
Here is the shower/tub. I took this picture mostly for April. It’s not Dothan…try not to be jealous 😉
And the rest of the bathroom. And me at 30 weeks and 2 days which is what they say I am.
Can I just say that it was SO nice to shower and get in my OWN clothes today!
Finally, our view. Kinda. We have some white shutters that open to let the light in. We can see the building across the street and the parking garage. Too bad the shutters are screwed into the window so this is as far as they open 😛
And that is pretty much it. Everything is going well with us so far. As long as baby and I stay infection and contraction free we will be here for 4 more weeks. At 34 weeks (Around Feb 11) they will induce me I guess and he will be here a month early! They did an ultrasound yesterday and guessed that he is about 4lbs now. Hopefully he will pack on some more weight while I am here and will be big and strong when he does decide to come so we wont have to stay here long afterward.
So much for choosing the hospital in Dothan with the big fancy deliver and recover rooms! And this will be the first birthday of Layla’s that I will miss. I am very thankful to have such wonderful friends here in Alabama who are making sure my kid is taken care of, my family is fed, lil T will have lil clothes (because we so aren’t ready for him!), and the dogs and house are all taken care of while Thomas is up here with me. I love you all!
Poor T. That doesn't look comfy at all. Glad to hear you are doing well now. I can't find where I wrote down your address…can you send it to me. I've got a bunch of clothes to send you. 🙂
I'm sorry you are having to stay at the hospital! I am glad they got everything under control for you. Hang in there and your little one will be fine….I was at a birthday party last night and there was a 14 week old there who was born at 34 weeks and she is doing fantastic! Only in the NICU for 3 days. Good luck 🙂
