(non)Tutorial Tues…Wednesday… + Giveaway #3!

I’m so sorry I didn’t get this up yesterday! Today is Layla’s birthday and well…I got distracted by other shiny things and wasn’t able (motivated) to get this up in time. Sorry!

So today I have this weeks tutorial/giveaway for y’all. First off let me say I went back and forth between a few different projects before falling back on something that I’ve actually made before.

For Christmas I made myself and 2 friends a coffee cozy. I got the idea from Erin at House on Hill Road.

At the time I didn’t have ink in my printer so I pretty much just guessed on the size of her pattern that you can find and print HERE.

Last night I decided to do it right and print the pattern to make one again. Well…it turned out TINY. Like at least an inch shorter than the ones I made at Christmas.

I decided it was junk and ended up making a new one that was the size of mine.

Maybe I didn’t print at 100%? I’m sure I did though.

Anyway…

Start with your 2 fabrics and something for the padding, an elastic hair tie, and a button.

Cut out your pieces

Sew the elastic to your outer fabric

Here is where I skipped a few pictures…oops. Lay your padding down, then put your outside fabric facing UP on top of it then your lining fabric face DOWN on top of that so the right sides of your fabric are touching.

Sew all the way around leaving a couple inches open for turning it right side out.

Flip, press, and sew around the edges. I used 2 pieces of felt inside and it was thick and no good.

Now you sew your button on the outside where it will line up with your elastic.

Since it was tiny, over stuffed, and ghetto I made another one using mine as a pattern for size and used a pink button instead. LOVE it. SO much better!

Much much better.

So there you have it. A coffee cozy! I keep mine in the diaper bag on the off chance I will actually get coffee while I’m out so I can use it instead of the cardboard one that comes with the coffee.
