We spent 3 days in New York City and crammed in so many things, or took too many pictures, that I had to break up our itinerary by day. Day 1 got us to the city from BWI on an Amtrak train. From there we hit up Queens and Brooklyn, crossed the bridge, and walked through Little Italy all the way back up to Times Square.
Day 2 – Our plan was to get in some exercise, find breakfast, then come back to the hotel to change and get ready for the day and whatever that included. First stop – Starbucks. Then we walked it to Central Park and sat on some benches to people/dog watch while we sipped. We both noted that it felt like 101 Dalmations when every dog that walked by perfectly matched their owner. When our coffee was done we continued on for a walk/jog through the park stopping for a couple of photos and gushing over a lot of dogs. Once we hit Columbus Circle I couldn’t get That’s How You Know from Enchanted out of my head. Finished our 5K on the way to Hudson Bagel for a bacon, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel.
After breaky we went and got ready for our day then set out to walk another thousand miles. First stop, the Intrepid, after passing the Moulin Rouge theater. More regret not getting tickets for that. We skipped the lines and just took photos from outside. This thing was HUGE. We kept walking down the water until we hit the entrance to the High Line. The High Line is an old elevated rail line that has been turned into a park/greenway with art and gardens to see as well as access to Hudson Yards shopping and Chelsea Market.
We got off the High Line at Chelsea Market and grabbed smoothies after checking out some shops. At this point I knew we were close to a stop we made in October… a local Goodwill. I didn’t find anything this time around but T got a hoodie so it was worth the stop. I did try on some shorts though and found out someone really likes Harry Styles. From there it was down to Washington Square Park to see the arch and fountain and fun people. A quick lap around there as we were on a mission to find the Doughnut Project nearby. Unfortunately, we strolled up right as they locked the doors and turned off the lights. So on to more real food (nachos) at the Blind Tiger Ale House.
Now that we’d walked so much I voted train back to Times Square. And my vote won. We got back to the hotel and I took an HOUR NAP and still had plenty of time to have activities. We ended up snagging a table at Dear Irving on Hudson right at sunset. Before that, we decided to pregame with some chicken and sweet potato fries back at the Broadway Lounge in our hotel. We sat outside this time and talked about how much that table and these rooms would go for on NYE as we had the perfect view of the ball. Dear Irving was a hit as well. I loved that they had a section of the menu for fun non-alcoholic drinks that made you still feel like you were ordering something fun that isn’t just water. And the views!
At the end of the night, we did one more swing through Times Square for some prime people watching before going back to the room and passing out before 11 pm.
